KUWAIT: The Asian Paralympic Games will be held from October 22nd to October 28th with 3,000 players of both genders from 44 countries participating in Hangzhou, China. Kuwait’s delegation includes 41 players who will participate in four games - athletics, basketball, fencing and table tennis. The delegation is headed by Chairman of the Paralympic Committee Mansour Al-Sarheed, board member Saud Al-Mutairi and Talal Al-Mutairi as official.
Mansour Al-Sarheed said all teams are ready for the best participation possible following a satisfactory preparation period. He added "we hope for making many major achievements in the largest gathering of Asian players and we have great confidence in Kuwait champions in all games”. He said we are proud of the major support from Commerce and Industry Ministry, State Minister for Youth Affairs Mohammad Al-Aiban, Director General of Public Authority for Sport (PAS) Yousuf Al-Baidan and his Deputy Bashar Abdullah.
Meanwhile, athletics coach Nizar Ramadhan said the team is ready following holding training camps including one for runner Faisal Al-Rajhi, and are hoping for good results. Al-Rajhi on his part said he was happy for participating in the Paralympics which is considered the largest sports event in Asia.
He said the wheelchair running event is expected to see strong competition led by world champions from China and Thailand. Table tennis player Ahad Al-Rashidi said she is keen on giving the best performance, adding that our morale is high and expect competition to be tough. Meanwhile, Malak Al-Enezi said all are seeking to compete for top places, and have Kuwait’s flag flying high.
