KUWAIT: To remind the new generation of the most important event in Kuwait’s history - the Iraqi invasion in 1990 - a group of volunteer teams organized a festival titled ‘We are all for Kuwait and Kuwait is for us’ on Wednesday at Mubarak Kiosk in Mubarakiya. The event was held on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the invasion, and aimed to strengthen national belonging to Kuwait and love for volunteer work. Leaders of volunteer teams released 1,278 balloons symbolizing Kuwaiti martyrs, each with the name of a martyr.
Various institutions participated in this event, including the Municipality, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Defense, Kuwait Martyrs’ Office, Kuwait Fire Service Directorate and volunteer teams. Poets Abdulkareem Al-Anezi and Hammad Al-Ajmi presented a poem about Kuwait and the role of martyrs, and how they sacrificed their lives for Kuwait. Two volunteer teams presented two short plays on the brutal practices of the Iraqi soldiers towards Kuwaitis, including arresting and killing people. The event concluded with awarding leaders of the participating volunteer teams.
