Scheduled maintenance starts at 8:00 pm Friday

KUWAIT: The Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) has scheduled maintenance to be carried out on the freshwater network in Subhan. As a result, water supply will be affected in Khaitan, Farwaniya, Omariya, Yarmouk, Qurtuba, Shuhada, Zahra and Surra from 8:00 pm Friday to 8:00 am Saturday (12 hours). The weak water supply will be temporary, as part of the periodic maintenance program of the freshwater network, Assistant Undersecretary for Water Operation and Maintenance Khalifa Al-Furaij said.

Pharmacy sector

Health Minister Dr Basel Al-Sabah received the board of directors of the Pharmacists Society chaired by Waleed Al-Shimmari, and obstacles facing the pharmacy sector in the government were discussed. Shimmari said several important issues were discussed including the permanent appointment of an assistant undersecretary for the medicine and medical supplies sector and assistant undersecretary for medical supervision and inspection. He said it is necessary to appoint specialized undersecretaries in the pharmacy sector from within the health ministry, as they understand the nature of challenges the sector faces.

Housing welfare

Director of the Public Authority for Housing Welfare Bader Al-Wuqayan said a tender to build houses in East Taima for citizens who already sold their government homes will be issued next week. He said the project has 509 homes, adding it will be completed in two years after signing the contract and awarding the tender to the winning company. Nearly 1,600 citizens will benefit from the project.

Inspection

The public authority for food and nutrition conducted inspections in Qurain, resulting in issuing two citations and destroying 10.385 kg of fish and meat.

Interior's expenses

Chairman of the parliamentary budgets and financial disclosure committee Adnan Abdulsamad said the committee recommended that the interior ministry's hospitality expenses be sent to the public prosecution over suspicions of public funds squandering. He said the committee listened to all parties from the interior and finance ministries, State Audit Bureau and financial auditors over what was mentioned in an Audit Bureau report and by the investigations committee at the interior ministry. In other news, the National Assembly's office held a meeting under the chairmanship of Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanem. Assembly supervisor MP Nayef Al-Mirdas said the office decided to invite the President of the Central System for the Remedy of Illegal Residents' Status to attend the meeting to be held Feb 5.
