KUWAIT: The Kuwait Festival for Tourism and Entertainment will launch its first session next January under the slogan ‘Kuwait: One Hundred and One Nights’. The event is aimed at transforming Kuwait into a distinctive financial, economic, and cultural center, the President of the Kuwait Festivals Association, Tariq Al-Obaid, said after the meeting of the festival's organizing committee at the Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre in the presence of liaison officers.
The festival would also achieve the objectives of the coordinating committee on enhancing non-oil revenues "because the recreational tourism is one of the most important non-oil sectors for the national economy. The Kuwait Festival for Tourism and Entertainment will stimulate family tourism in Kuwait and the Gulf countries through the establishment of many events and various tourism activities, during which the focus will be on Arabic content and is characterized by inclusiveness, diversity, innovation, and modernity,” he explained.
He stated that the festival's activities will include tourism, entertainment, cultural, artistic, and sports activities to meet different tastes of all ages, pointing out that "those in charge of this work are young Kuwaitis trained to organize such celebrations.”
The festival's programs and activities will also highlight the competitive value of Kuwait and the Gulf region in its cultural and historical heritage, rich arts, and literature, as well as a series of family events, competitions, raffles, live television broadcasts, and a grand opening ceremony.
Al-Obaid said that the festival is concerned with promoting cultural tourism by holding heritage, literary, artistic, poetry, and other activities in the fields of fine arts in a festive atmosphere. He also praised the unlimited support provided by the cultural centers of Amiri Diwan. - KUNA
